My “Work In Progress” is a story about a young girl, fresh off the boat from England in 1831.

Her mother has died on the voyage and her father has described a wonderful new home in his letters, only thing is, when she arrives, the grand estate house is only a foundation trench and her father is living in a wattle and daub hut with convicts accommodated in a bark lean to.

Hardly what she expected . . .

Shelby Estate takes hold of her heart and imagination, and when her father is drowned in the river, she decides to stay and finish what he’d started.
